G-III Apparel

G-III Apparel  -  GIII  .  NASDAQ

This is what I thought in April 2020 when I first bought the stock...

G-III Apparel is a designer and distributor of footwear, apparel and accessories for some of the biggest brand names in clothing. They own the DKNY and Donna Karan labels and have major licenses with Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole and other well-known fashion brands. They sell their wares to over 1800 retail partners, both off and online. Their biggest customers are the big department store chains and while this is a concern, the rock bottom valuation of the stock (trailing p:e 1.7, p:b 0.5) prompted me to set aside that worry, along with more pressing concerns about the viability of retail in general in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, and snatch this stock up at prices in the $5.56 - $5.90 range.
