Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective as of September 15, 2019.

I respect your concerns about privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the types of personal information (the “Data”) I collect on this website, how I use the Data, who I may share it with and the choices available to you.

This Privacy Policy applies to this website. While I may provide links to other websites for your convenience I am not responsible for their privacy practices.

If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, you are instructed not to use this website.

Data I Obtain and How I Use it

This site uses WordPress as its backbone. The software to run the website was obtained from WordPress.org. The WordPress site stats service (provided by Automattic Inc. through the Jetpack plug-in, in connection with WordPress.com) collects usage and tracking data for site visitor stats. This Data is drawn from information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. It includes such things as the type of browser software you use, the operating system you are running, the website that referred you, the date and time of your visit and your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address. The IP address can be used to determine the approximate geographic location of a visitor’s device. For example, using the site stats interface, I can see which blog posts have been read most frequently and which countries users are coming from. This data does not identify specific users; I can see, for example, that a post has been read 285 times but not which users have read that post. I only use these stats for my personal information; to help improve your website visit experience and guide future website development. For more information on the privacy policy of the site stats service provided by WordPress.com through Automattic Inc. see here.

I’ve also used a third party solution called Mailchimp to collect email addresses and optionally, names of users who choose to subscribe to this blog. Mailchimp also records each user’s IP address. This Data is only collected and recorded by Mailchimp when users elect to subscribe to the mailing list. Mailchimp handles the new blog post alerts that subscribers receive. You will have the right and ability to opt out of future notifications from links within the notification messages. This Data is collected as a service to users so they can stay abreast of the most recent content updates without having to manually check back in on the website every day. You can view Mailchimp’s privacy policy here. I do not sell or distribute these e-mail addresses to any other third parties. However, I may share your Data with other parties (a) as required by law or to protect or exercise my or others’ legal rights, such as a request from law enforcement or in connection with a court proceeding or (b) in connection with the sale, merger, or transfer of this website to a third-party.

When you send email or other communication to me, I may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve the website.

This website does not respond to “do not track” browser signals.
