I am a 49 year old, private investor who has been actively investing in the markets for over 20 years now. Through a combination of saving as much as I could, as early as I could, spending as little as I could and getting some extraordinary investment returns, I managed to leave the rat race early, quitting my day job at the ripe old age of 34 to focus on what has become a life-long passion: the pursuit of value investing.

I live with my wife, two children and one very loud and annoying cat, deep in the Canadian north woods, about as far from Wall and Bay Streets as Omaha, Nebraska is. When I’m not perusing spreadsheets I’m usually out skiing, mountain biking, drinking coffee at the local hangout or working on a never-ending series of house renovations.

I love value investing. I love finding ridiculous sounding companies that go on to double or triple in price. I get the same charge out of buying some obscure packaging company that others might get from buying the latest hot technology stock. I love the thrill of uncovering something no one else seems to have noticed. Value investing is a maddening, endlessly challenging and intensely rewarding pastime. Through this website, I hope to share some of that passion with you.

I created this blog to reach out to the investment community at large. Please don’t hesitate to drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you.
